We were enjoying a night of music and Wii when suddenly a man comes to the door and opens it. Immediately he says "Does someone in here drive a white station wagon?"...YES (Jim)... "Someone just broke into it and stole a guitar out of the back." (FUCK!)

We flip... I get the number to the police station down the street. We all run outside to inspect the damage and also to our surprise see the culprits still within a block of the house. Colin, Josh and I jump into the car and drive towards the van. They don't budge.. They are just sitting in the middle of the street.. Perfect, we get their License plate number. Finally the move and pull into an alley and turn their lights off.. (real slick). So we split and go back to the house and wait for the cops.

After waiting for about 15 minutes we decide to go see if they are still in the alley.. They weren't so we drive around the 'hood a bit and finally we catch up with them again... only this time they are in handcuffs surrounded by a few cops cars.... YESSS!!!! We were so pumped.. I immediately call Jim and let him know and we head back to the house. When we get back a cop had already taken Jim to the crime scene to ID the guitar. He's back at the house within minutes with the guitar in hand.. SCORE ONE FOR THE IPD!

It turns out the idiots were on a "crime spree" and had broken into many cars that night. It took a while for the crime lab (aka cop with a digital camera) to get to the scene so we had to wait about 2 hours for them to show up. We were informed that the thieves were being taken to jail and that the court would cut Jim a check for the damage to the car after the criminal trial.

BIG THANKS to my neighbor James.. Jim would probably less a guitar if he hadn't come to our door to let us know about the break-in. Now he's only without a passenger side window for a while, fair trade-off I'd say.
